Why Blog?
I spent last week trying to respond to Ebuddha's post but everything I wrote stunk of lame. And so now I find myself writing a delayed take.
I certainly agree with him on the use of blogging as dialogue. And this dialogue has renewed my interest in Integral and helped me to seek out ways to deepen my practice.
There has been the gentle push of seeing a community I respected and wanting to step up. Blogging became a motivation for growth and a way to hold my own feet to the fire.
And there's something else.
When I think about what might be interesting enough to write about and start into the topic, I usually discover that I've only got vague or half-baked ideas, and so it becomes necessary to delve deeper in the hopes of refining them.
So I reflect on the topic, try to pull in a few other interests for balance and next thing you know (well okay, sometimes this takes awhile or never quite materializes) I've got a post that articulates something I might not have been able to articulate without the push of knowing someone was going to read what I say.
Even if I am the only one who notices the difference, blogging helps force me not to take short cuts.
